How to Drink Water for Weight Loss

Research studies show that water can help in losing weight.  The body has difficulties differentiating hunger from thirst so if you drink lots of water, you will find yourself full and not hungry all the time. If you drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday, you keep your body hydrated and feeling full.  Drinking one or two glasses of water before meals and snack time will also help you eat less.  Drinking water can help you eat an average of 75 calories less in every meal.  But do not drink too much because too much water can also cause a drop in your metabolism and can hinder weight loss.  Drinking enough water daily coupled with healthy eating habits and regular exercise is an effective formula for a successful weight loss program.

How Drinking Water Helps Weight Loss?

The liver and kidneys process the fats and turns it into energy and in order for it to function well it needs a lot of water.  If your organs are deprived of water, it can cause it to function slowly and metabolize slowly.  Water also helps in flushing toxins and other unwanted elements in your body.  It is a good beauty regimen.  It flushes out the impurities in your body giving you flawless and glowing skin.  But the most obvious benefit for drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily is it decreases your appetite making you eat less allowing your body to burn more calories.

The good about increasing your water intake is that it does not require physical activities or will power on your part.  If you drink enough water daily, your body functions better.  If your body is dehydrated, it compensates by retaining excess water as a defense mechanism or a protective measure.  It also prevents you from getting false hunger pangs that happens when you are thirsty.  When a person is thirsty, your body sometimes misinterpret it as hunger so you consume more food instead of water and your body continues to store water instead of flushing them out because you are not hydrating your body as much as you should.

How much Water should I drink for Weight Loss?

Start by drinking 2 glasses of water right after you wake up.  Then eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables which are also good sources of water.  If you crave coffee in the morning, try drinking a glass of water first before giving in to your cravings.  Caffeinated drinks are diuretics; they force water out of your system causing dehydration.

Benefits of drinking Lemon Water for Weight Loss

Try to put an interesting twist in your water intake by adding lemon juice or other fresh fruit juices that are rich in vitamin C.  Vitamin C helps improve your digestion and regulate sugar absorption.  This will help you not to gain more weight.  It also helps your body absorb more calcium into fat cells which in turns helps you to lose weight.  The acidity in the lemon and other vitamin c-rich fruits help regulate and increase your metabolism.  It interacts with your digestive enzymes allowing a faster and healthier digestion of food.
Every time you feel hungry, drink a glass of water first and weight at least fifteen minutes before indulging and giving in to your hunger.  Water can help make that hunger pang go away, if not, it will make you eat less which is better for your weight.

Although water is not the be-all, end-all in weight loss, there is no doubt that it can help.  When you do regular exercise, you might need to drink more than 8 glasses of water to avoid dehydration.  Your workout regimen will not be as effective if you are not drinking enough water.  Your water helps strengthen your muscles and gives you more energy to workout.  If you get enough exercise but you don’t have enough water supply in your body, your metabolism will slow down and retain as much fluid in your body as protection.  The natural instinct of your body will store as much component as possible if it does not get enough.  The same is true with dieting.  Now matter how much you work out and go on a diet, it will not be as effective if you don’t drink plenty of water.

Water is an important dietary tool as well as important for body functions.  Aside from it increases your metabolism, boosting your energy, hydrating your body and giving you great skin, water is also vital in your body’s daily function.  So keep a glass or a bottle of water close and incorporate it in your daily routine.  You will be surprised at what a glass of water can do to your appetite and your weight.  The best part is water is readily available and very affordable.  You don’t have to spend much on magic pills and formulas.  Water might just be the answer.
