Add flavors in food for weight loss |
As per the recent studies flavoring food with seasonings that are calorie free and other sweeteners will help you to feel fuller and also help you to reduce the amount of food that you consume. This might lead to a whole new fad of
losing weight. As per the study of tastants or the ingredients which stimulate your taste senses adding or sprinkling sweet crystals to these foods before eating meals can help you
lose weight.
There was a survey conducted with 2,436 people who were obese to see the impact of these flavorings. Most people usually have salt free savory crystals and use sugar free ones on their sweet dishes. But the participants could only realize the flavors of these crystals as salty or sweet.
There are many other hidden flavors that can be used like onion, cheddar cheese, taco, ranch dressing and even Parmesan. The sweet flavors included
spearmint, banana, strawberry and raspberry and cocoa.

The Flavors That Can Help Weight Loss |
Then a group of 1000 was selected from the 2,436, and they were not given any tastants. After this both, the groups had to continue with their regular activities of dieting and working out. The treatment group’s BMI was calculated which was about 34 at the beginning of the study and quite obese. Six months after the use of tastants the treatment group using tastants lost about 30.5 pounds on an average and their BMI was reduced by 5 points. The other group lost just 2 pounds, and the BMI reduction was about 0.3. This study and its conclusion were then presented in San Francisco at the Endocrine Society's annual meeting.
The people in the treatment group had
lost more weight because they would feel fuller due to these tastants and hence would be eating less. One more possibility which existed was the tastants improving food flavor of healthy but tasteless foods like Tofu and
vegetables. The idea is to sniff the food and get the flavors and then chew it as slowly as possible.
Another study which was presented at the same meeting also showed that with three months of aerobic
exercises the body could reduce fat and the calorie intake was also less. These were changes linked to the brain neurotrophic factors or the BDNF. This BDNF also helps to promote nerve cells growth and helps in its survival. The studies reveal the BDNF to be an appetite suppressant as well.
