Health and healthy living for weight loss |
There are pages filled with articles on health and how we can
lose weight on that flabby abs or slim down the thunder thighs and so on. Is health only about physical well-being? Or is there another perspective to health also? Most of the dictionaries define health as a state of mental and physical well-being.
So what if you have a few extra inches on your tummy or are overweight as per the BMI. Is it not possible to like yourself the way you are? Well, maybe or maybe not, but health is not only getting into the thinnest pants in the world or getting those wash board abs.
Health is more of a mental concern than physical matter. It is necessary to do
exercises and eat healthy so that you live longer and stay healthier and blah blah. But think about it, when was the last time you felt happy because you indulged in an
exercise because you love it and not because you want
to lose weight. And with all regards to the zero sized people out there or those who have put even anorexia to shame, eating is healthy. It does matter that you eat good nutritious food so that your dietary requirements are fulfilled, but once in a while, every one loves to lick that cake off their hands or just gorge on a big bowl of ice cream with extra chocolate sauce.
Being conscious about health has led us to a time where most people only survive on salads and skimmed milk. Well, thanks to some of us bakeries and confectioneries are still surviving. Healthy living is not about being obsessed with health but allowing yourself to do things you love once in a while.
Try to keep a day off in the week, may be a Sunday when you can eat all that you like. Don’t exercise on that day but allow you to be a glutton for a day. Just sit back and slouch on the couch. This one day a week will not do you any harm but will certainly boost your spirit and keep you going through the other six days. A few days play your favorite sport instead of regular exercises or just wildly through the park as you did as a kid. And you will discover what you had been missing out on all these days. So be healthy but not obsessed with health.
